Parkway, eh? I'm from Jersey. You from Jersey? I know parkways!
Not this parkway. The Garden State Parkway has it's moments but...
Icefields Parkway is 170 miles of continuous drop-dead gorgeous scenery. Along the way there are glaciers, waterfalls, animals, overlooks, rivers and Rocky Mountains on both sides.
Here's a sample from our trip on the way to Jasper.
Crowfoot Glacier and Bow Lake. Over the years, one of the toes on the crows foot has mostly melted away. |

Tangle Creek Falls |

Panther Falls at Big Bend |
Mountain Goats! Licking the salt from a salt lick.
There was sooo much more to see after the goats, but we needed to scoot to get to Jasper for dinner.
We'll see the rest of the Parkway over the next several days.
Welcome to Jasper! (ten points if you can spy Sue's crutches) |
...where our hotel featured a night of a friendly bike club, um, Hells Angles of BC!
and a rail yard right across the street! |
Full disclosure. The bikers were friendly - and secretive. But very loud leaving at 6 AM. The rail yard noise kept down by a berm between the road and the street.
